About this place
Along the avenue in Azumabashi, Sen Sushi keeps its lights on from 17:00 in the evening until 0:00 late into the night, offering a counter where guests can casually select sushi to their liking. Stopping by on the way home from work or wrapping up an evening of sightseeing, regulars and travelers alike lean over the counter, chatting with the sushi chefs as they enjoy each piece one by one.
The nigiri selection spans an approachable range, letting patrons assemble orders piece by piece with cuts such as lean Pacific bluefin tuna, whale, chives, medium fatty tuna, and fatty tuna. The thin roll variety is equally diverse, featuring combinations like toro taku maki (fatty tuna with pickled radish), himo kyu maki (clam mantle with cucumber), and yam roll with plum and shiso, serving comfortably as drinking snacks or a closing dish. For sharing, the signature bakudan gathers sea urchin, salmon roe, and negitoro over a natto base, wrapped up in crisp nori.
Warm plates and grilled items offer satisfying pauses between sushi orders. House-marinated black cod Saikyo yaki, foil-baked mushrooms, and handmade chawanmushi savory egg custard complement cold, dry sake or shochu sours. An evening here naturally wraps up with a bowl of fragrant sea lettuce soup to soothe the palate before heading out.
